Background Information

PPP6C (Protein Phosphatase 6 Catalytic Subunit or simply PP6) is a highly conserved serine/threonine phosphatase belonging to the PP2A-like subfamily. This enzyme complex plays critical roles in a wide array of fundamental cellular processes, including cell cycle progression, DNA damage response, NF-κB signaling, and microtubule organization. PPP6C mutations are found across multiple cancer types but are most common in melanoma and other skin cancers (PMID: 33789117).
