Background Information
PRPSAP2, also named as PAP41, is 369 amino acid protein, which Seems to play a negative regulatory role in 5-phosphoribose 1-diphosphate synthesis. PRPSAP2 is another protein involved in nucleic acid metabolism. The PRPSAP2 gene encodes part of the enzyme PRPP synthetase, which catalyzes the formation of phosphoribosylpyrophosphate, being a primary substrate for newly formed purine and pyrimidine nucleotides. Depletion of the PRPP synthetase causes growth arrest], the reverse has not been shown. Overexpression of SHMT1 and PRPSAP2 (and also COPS3) has been reported to occur in multiple myelomas . PRPSAP2 exists several isoforms with the range of molecular weight about 35-43 kDa.
