Background Information
Tau plays a crucial role in promoting and stabilizing microtubule assembly within neuronal axons. Phospho-TAU(Thr217) has emerged as a highly specific early biomarker for Alzheimer's disease (AD), detectable in both CSF and blood, effectively distinguishing AD from other dementias. This site is primarily phosphorylated by CDK5 and GSK-3β. Beyond its diagnostic value, p-T217 hyperphosphorylation is directly linked to synaptic dysfunction, neuronal loss, and cognitive decline in AD pathogenesis.
