Background
Neurexophilin-1 (NXPH1) is a secretory protein that belongs to the Neurexophilin family. NXPH1 is known to code for a neuronal glycoprotein that binds to α-neurexin to regulate neuronal function, neurotransmission, signalization and various cell interactions. NXPH1 expression is enriched in adrenal gland and brain. NXPH1 has also been identified as a novel biomarker for the prognosis of neuroblastoma, and for the diagnosis of low-grade breast cancer.
