Background
TrkA belongs to the Trk receptor family, which plays a central role in a very broad range of cellular responses and is implicated in a spectrum of human pathologies, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s diseases, pain, and notably cancer. TrkA in particular was first to be identified as a specific receptor for NGF and is activated upon NGF binding.
