Background Information
Selenoprotein K (SelK), a single-pass transmembrane protein that resides in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane, which has been reported to an emerging role of playing a part in protein palmitoylation. Human SelK is a 94-amino-acid protein with Sec residing at the penultimate position. It has been shown that SelK is expressed predominantly in the heart and skeletal muscle, but other tissues, such as the liver, pancreas, and placenta, also have detectable levels of SelK.(PMID: 36252341)
