Background Information
TRIM61 is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) protein family. The RING domain in TRIM proteins, including TRIM61, can mediate the conjugation of proteins with ubiquitin, small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO), or the ubiquitin-like molecule IFN-stimulated protein of 15 kDa (ISG15), contributing to the biological flexibility of TRIM proteins. The E3 ligase activity of TRIM proteins, such as TRIM61, is essential for their role in post-translational modification, which plays a crucial role in cellular processes often resulting in targeted degradation of conjugated proteins.
