Background Information
N1-methyladenosine (m1A) is an important posttranscriptional modification and occurs throughout the tRNA structure.m1A at position 58 (m1A58) is the predominant m1A modification of cytoplasmic tRNA in eukaryotic cells. The formation of m1A58 on cytoplasmic tRNAs is mediated by the methyltransferase complex TRMT6/TRMT61A, in which TRMT61A functions as the catalytic subunit and TRMT6 is responsible for tRNA binding.
