Background Information

LAMB3 (β3 subunit of laminin) is an important extracellular matrix protein, which plays an important role in cell adhesion, migration, signal transduction and the formation and stability of basement membrane. LAMB3 plays a key role in the basement membrane of skin and mucosa, maintaining the adhesion between epidermis and dermis. Its abnormal function will lead to skin bullous disease (such as severe borderline epidermolaxis, sJEB), which is characterized by blisters and ulcers on skin and mucosa. LAMB3 is highly expressed in many cancers, including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), lung cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, etc., which is closely related to the proliferation, invasion and metastasis of tumor cells.
