Background Information
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a member of the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) family and plays a critical role in a wide variety of cellular functions, including proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. After EGFR homodimerization with extracellular ligands such as epidermal growth factor (EGF), the intracellular tyrosine kinase domain is activated and autophosphorylates multiple tyrosine residues in the C‐terminal tail domain. (PMID: 23822636) Some scientists call EGFR Tyr869 as EGFR Tyr845, the site where the signaling peptide is removed.
