Background Information
VPS35L, also known as EC97, contains 5 N-glycosylation sites, 3 N-myristoylation sites, and numerous phosphorylation sites. Northern blot analysis detected a 3.4-kb EC97 transcript in all human tissues tested except adipose. RT-PCR analysis showed that EC97 expression was upregulated in 60% of human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tissues and downregulated in 35% of ESCC tissues tested compared with controls. VPS35L is Involved in Golgi to plasma membrane transport and endocytic recycling.
