  1X10^6 HepG2 cells were intracellularly stained with 0.8 ug CoraLite® Plus 488 Anti-Human C5 (CL488-66634, Clone:2G8C9) (red), or 0.8 ug CoraLite® Plus 488 Mouse IgG2a Isotype Control (C1.18.4) (CL488-65208, Clone: C1.18.4) (blue). Cells were fixed with 4% PFA and permeabilized with Flow Cytometry Perm Buffer.

Background Information

The complement system is an important effector that bridges the innate and adaptive immune systems. The fifth component of complement, C5, is part of the complement cascade and plays an important role in inflammation and cell killing. It consists of disulfide-linked alpha and beta polypeptide chains but can be cleaved into two active peptides (C5a and C5b) by C5 convertases. Mutations and defects in C5 are associated with severe recurrent infections. This antibody specifically recognizes the C5 alpha chain and C5b.(PMID: 20010915; PMID: 8011297; PMID: 6554279)
