Background Information
ACTA2 (also known as α-smooth muscle actin or α-SMA) belongs to the actin family. Actins are highly conserved proteins that are involved in various types of cell motility and are ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells. ACTA2 is primarily expressed in vascular smooth muscle and anti-ACTA2 is commonly used to marker smooth muscle cells.

ANA (Verified Customer) (06-22-2026) | We tested this antibody by flow cytometry on lymph node samples to detect αSMA-positive stromal/fibroblast-like cells and distinguish them from LYVE1-positive endothelial populations. The antibody gave some detectable signal, but only few αSMA-positive fibroblast-like cells were observed. It is unclear whether this reflects a low abundance of αSMA-expressing fibroblasts in lymph nodes or suboptimal staining/antibody performance in our samples. Therefore, it may be useful for αSMA detection, but should be combined with markers such as PDPN/gp38, CD31 and LYVE1.
